One example would be when patients are transferred from the Emergency Rooms to specialized ICU rooms. Often the nurses or staff do not get along because each unit believes that they are superior to the other. Sometimes, they have difficulty understanding the protocols that each unit must maintain as well, causing issues between the departments. Often these issues can be resolved by utilizing a floating staff system and incorporating a primary protocol system throughout the whole facility, rather than using different systems in each unit. Initiating both protocols would break down the conflict that many departments have and ensure that all healthcare professionals are treated equally.
